Reactors provide energy generation and storage. Without energy, most components will not function - only a ship's engines will run, and then only at one-third of their normal capability.

Reactors need fuel to run, drawn from fuel cells. "Efficiency" represents how much fuel is required to produce energy, so smaller numbers are better. "Output" is how much energy one reactor can produce in one second, while "Storage" determines the maximum available energy for shields and weapons.

The following reactors are available:

Name Space Resources Fuel Efficiency Output Storage
Basic Space Reactor 18 5 Steel, 7 Helium, 3 Lead Caslon 4.11 per 1000 46 90
Fission Reactor 22 6 Iridium, 9 Helium, 5 Steel, 4 Lead Caslon 3.81 (+0.03 -0.01) per 1000 60 (+12 +14) 105 (+20 +25)
Quantum Reactor 18 6 Iridium, 11 Krypton, 4 Steel, 2 Carbon Fibre, 2 Tyderios Caslon 3.48 (+0.01 -0.01) per 1000 120 (+25 +30) 230 (+45 +55)
Fusion Reactor 15 7 Iridium, 10 Argon, 6 Steel Hydrogen 2.89 (-0.10 -0.10) per 1000 84 (+16 +20) 180 (+35 +45)
HyperFusion Reactor 16 8 Iridium, 12 Helium, 6 Steel, 4 Aculon, 4 Tyderios Hydrogen 2.79 (-0.12 -0.15) per 1000 180 (+35 +45) 350 (+90 +100)

Additionally, the Quameno race has access to its own special reactor:

Name Space Resources Fuel Efficiency Output Storage
NovaCore Reactor 20 6 Iridium, 9 Krypton, 4 Steel, 3 Aculon, 2 Tyderios Hydrogen 2.00 (+0 +0) per 1000 120 (+35 +37) 240 (+60 +75)
